Great River Homes, Inc. provides Crisis Respite Services to support individuals with developmental disabilities who are experiencing a behavioral, emotional, or situational crisis that places their stability or safety at risk. Our crisis respite program offers short-term, structured support designed to reduce stress, restore stability, and help individuals return to their routines as safely and confidently as possible.
Our trained and compassionate staff deliver individualized care in a calm, supportive environment—either within the person’s home or in another approved setting. Crisis Respite Services focus on safety, de-escalation, emotional support, and helping individuals regain a sense of control. We work closely with the person, their caregivers, and their support team to understand the circumstances leading to the crisis and to provide responsive, person-centered assistance.
Services may include skill-building strategies, coping support, assistance with daily living, behavior support techniques outlined in the person’s plan, health and wellness monitoring, and positive engagement activities. Our goal is to reduce the intensity of the crisis, prevent further escalation, and promote feelings of security and well-being.
