Mitzi Ryan and Sandy Swan of Great River Homes, Inc. pick up litter in July, 2010.

Adopt-A-Highway is a public service program through the Minnesota Department of Transportation and is made possible by volunteers who pick up litter along Minnesota's highways. The program enables the state's environmentally conscious citizens to make a personal contribution to a cleaner environment. Adopt-A-Highway volunteers pick up approximately 26,000 tons of litter annually on more than 12,000 miles of Minnesota roadways.

Great River Homes, Inc. employees have been collecting litter since 1990 on a two-mile stretch of Highway 61 between Wabasha and Lake City, Minnesota.

Thank you to the volunteers of Great River Homes, Inc. for the Adopt-A-Highway litter pick-up in 2010! Together, we have removed 30 bags of trash in May, July and September, 2010!
