Program Supervisor

Position Summary

The Program Supervisor supervises Support Service Coordinators and supported living services in accordance with the mission, policies and practices of Great River Homes, Inc. The Program Supervisor is responsible to and works directly under the supervision of the Program Director.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in a field related to human services and at least one year of full-time experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities or have a two year degree and at least two years of full-time experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities or have a high school diploma or the equivalent and at least three years of full-time experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

The applicant must be capable of completing essential job functions without posing direct threats to the health and safety of others, they must prove they are free of tuberculosis and must be able to physically perform the duties of the job.

Program Supervisors are expected to successfully complete an approved Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation course once every twelve months or as deemed necessary, will successfully complete an approved first aid course and must successfully complete an approved medication administration course and become certified to administer medications. Program Supervisors plan monthly team meetings and attend management team meetings and other training opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills as well as comply with training requirements.

The applicant must be able to establish and maintain open and effective communication with persons receiving support services, Support Service Coordinators, the Program Director, Administrator, families, guardians, day program staff, case managers, cooperating agencies and the community. Program Supervisors must be able to follow instructions, read, write and speak English, have intermediate computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, work under limited supervision, balance multiple and varied responsibilities, be able to work various hours including evenings and weekends, and have his/her own home telephone or cell phone.

Program Supervisors assist with individual program planning and implementation as well as behavior support strategies. They are responsible for hiring, training, scheduling and managing the Support Service Coordinators on their team. They assist in the maintenance of a healthy and safe home environment for people with developmental disabilities. Program Supervisors coordinate services, oversee coordination of financial resources and supervise and assist people with developmental disabilities in activities of daily living, recreation and leisure, community integration, transportation, and housekeeping.

Program Supervisors must exhibit good work habits, including appropriate personal appearance, regular and punctual attendance, dependability, safe driving habits, a positive and caring attitude and attention to detail. Candidates must also be team-oriented, organized, self-motivated, observant, accurate in documentation and responsive to the needs of individuals receiving services.
