An agency in-service on the Prevention and Reporting of Maltreatment of
Vulnerable Adults and Preventing Disease Transmission was held for employees of
Great River Homes, Inc. on Wednesday, June 18, 2008.
Employees of Great River Homes, Inc. who provide support services are mandated
reporters. Mandated reporters are required to receive in-service training at
least annually to review the Vulnerable Adults Act, Human Services Licensing
Act, and internal policies and procedures.
This training was presented by Rhonda Whalen, Training Coordinator and Michael Weinandt, Administrator.
All employees of Great River Homes, Inc. with occupational exposure to blood or
other potentially infectious materials are required to participate in this
training program to comply with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens standards.
The Preventing Disease Transmission in-service topics included a general
explanation of bloodborne diseases, modes of transmission of bloodborne
pathogens, a review of exposure control plans, personal protective equipment,
Hepatitis B Vaccine, and exposure incidents.
This training was presented by Sandi Schmidt, RN. Sandi provided an
opportunity for interactive questions and answers.
